http://http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1913/Guitar-Hero-Aerosmith/p1/

The product will offer more than 40 songs, though each set starts with two songs from other popular bands who also happened to be lead-in acts for Aerosmith at one point or another. Here, for instance, is the breakdown of the first two sets’ selections:

“All Day and All of the Night”—The Kinks
“No Surprize”—Aerosmith (from Night in the Ruts)

“Sweet Emotion”—Aerosmith (from Toys in the Attic)

Set 2

“Dream Police”—Cheap Trick
“All the Young Dudes”—Mott the Hoople
“Make It”—Aerosmith (from the band’s self-titled debut album)
“Uncle Salty”—Aerosmith (from Toys in the Attic)
“Draw the Line”—Aerosmith (from Draw the Line)

It would be, but Metallica would want so much money for a game based entirely on themselves that nobody would make any money off of it probably except for them.

yeah this game is going to be really dumb. Aerosmith are pretty gay and 99% of the bands they played with are shitty too.

I really like Aerosmith but I would have rather seen Rock Band put something like this out instead.

fagwhathappened
03-31-2008, 09:43 AM
I think they'd have a better chance doing genre's instead of bands, or time periods as long as the song list didn't suck like 80's did.

GRANOLEMAN
03-31-2008, 09:46 AM
I don't know what is worse actually, 80's or GH3.

Blindreepr
03-31-2008, 09:48 AM
GH: Aerosmith seems like it would only be marketable to hardcore GH players or someone who has dreamt of being in a aerosmith cover band all their life and it went unfulfilled so now they have to settle for rocking out alone to those tunes.

Either way it's a pretty sad situation.

dalton
03-31-2008, 09:48 AM
that extreme song on 80's was hot shit.

Guitar hero 4 is on the cover of the June issue of Game Informer

Guitar Hero 4 (PS3, 360, Wii, PS2)
- Create a song. Although these exclude vocals due to storage and possible copyright issues.
- You'll be able to name your song as well as creating album art. After you've done all that you can upload it to GH Tunes where anyone can download it.
- You'll be limited to 5 songs at first. But depending on the ratings you get you'll possibly be able to upload 10 or more.
- The song sharing mode will be in the Wii and PS2 versions also, but GI says it's unlikely that it'll be as robust as the PS3 and 360 versions.
- Drums, bass, vocals guitar
- Create a rocker
- Create a guitar and drums
- All songs will be master tracks
- They don't want to discuss specifics on track listing out of fear of being scooped by the competition. However they confirmed 4 bands: Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime.
- A new guitar designed by Red Octane that includes a new input mechanic that'll "impact the way you play GH in the future".
- GI saw see through notes while playing that Neversoft said was the new input mechanic and that they were trying to patent.

and the rest of the issue for shits and giggles/discussion
Prince of Persia (PS3, 360, PC)
- Inon Zur is the composer
- Combat is 1 on 1 now rather than having you face groups of circling enemies.
- 1 button will control your sword during combat, another for jumping and another for grabbing and manipulating things.

Resident Evil 5 (PS3, 360)
- The text is mostly just stuff Takeuchi talked about on the Famitsu DVD.
- A few new screens, one showing a chainsaw, an overhead shot of a female character that GI assumes is Claire, and a shot of Chris holding a blonde haired girl who they assume is Sherry.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (360)
- RARE says they didn't want to make a hi res version of the old Banjo platformer.
- You create vehicles with parts you find around the levels.
- GI says their first vehicles was a 4 wheeled kart with a spring attached to the bottom that allowed them to jump things. They later found a helicopter blade that allowed their kart to fly. Later they added balloons to the vehicle and put the blade on the back and created a hovercraft.
- RARE showed them a vehicle that was a monster truck that was able to detach its chasis to become a mini bike. When the bike ramped off a cliff it revealed collapsible glider wings and started flying.
- There will be 1,600 parts including weapons that you'll be able to attach to the vehicles.
- The town is called Showdown Town.
- GI says that despite the large focus on vehicles it still features platform elements from the previous games like traditional platforming, tight rope walking and jiggy piece collecting.
- Showdown Town is 16 times larger than anything RARE has created before.
- Every level has a different intro. Nutty Acres begins with a credits spoof of 80's soap opera's like Dallas.
- Note collecting is back and will act has currency that'll allow you to bu vehicle blueprints.
- RARE says there are 15 different challenges spread across 6 different levels. There will also be side missions.

Viva Pinata 2: Trouble in Paradise
- Improved interactivity between the pinata's and the environments.
- Pinata's will mimic each others action and follow the leader around the garden.
- They'll be adding toys for the pinatas to play with like musical instruments, spaced themed toys, and trains that the pinata's will ride around the garden.
- 30 new pinatas.
- 2 new sub areas called Pinarctic and Dessert that'll allow you to travel to new locations and lay traps for the pinatas.
- A photo mode will allow you to upload pictures to the website.
- A drop in and drop out co op mode.
- Improved UI.

Santa Monica, CA - May 22, 2008 - When the house lights go down this fall, a new generation of axe shredders, drummers and fearless frontmen will come together and rock with Activision, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero® World Tour. The latest installment from the #1 best-selling video game franchise of 2007, Guitar Hero World Tour will transform music gaming by marrying Guitar Hero's® exhilarating guitar gameplay, with a cooperative band experience that combines the most advanced wireless instruments with revolutionary new online and offline gameplay modes. The game will feature a slick newly redesigned guitar, a genuine electronic drum kit and a microphone, as well as an innovative Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock and roll anthems, along with online Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands."

Delivering the largest on-disc set list in a music-rhythm game to-date, Guitar Hero World Tour is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest classic and modern rock bands of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, Sublime and many more. Additionally, the game will offer significantly more localized downloadable music than ever before on all of the next-generation consoles. Budding rock stars will also be given creative license to fully customize everything from their characters' appearance and instruments to their band's logo and album covers.

In addition to a newly designed more responsive guitar controller and microphone, Guitar Hero World Tour will deliver the most realistic drum experience ever in a video game with an authentic electronic drum kit. Featuring three drum pads, two raised cymbals and a bass kick pedal, the drum controller combines larger and quieter, velocity-sensitive drum heads with soft rubber construction to deliver authentic bounce back and is easy to set up, move, break down and store.

"Guitar Hero has set the standard for music-based gaming and with Guitar Hero World Tour and the game's groundbreaking Music Studio, we are once again delivering unprecedented innovation that has the potential to revolutionize consumer generated music, much in the same way that video sharing hubs have driven user generated video," said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing for RedOctane. "With the introduction of our advanced high-quality new wireless instruments, in-depth customization options and advanced online functionality, the game enables music fans and gamers globally to share in the most social and expressive music experience ever."

Guitar Hero World Tour delivers more ways to play than ever before. Virtual musicians can live out their rock and roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument, or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. In addition to all of the online gameplay modes from Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour introduces Battle of the Bands mode which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to determine who is the best of the best. In the Band modes, up to four players can jam together, online or off, as they progress through the game, and in single-player Career Mode, players can jam on any of the instruments in branching venue progression enabling them to rock out in the order of their choice.

The game's innovative new Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full compliment of tools to create digital music from scratch, utilizing all of the instruments, and then play their compositions in the game. Music creators will also be able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunes™ where other gamers can download their unique compositions and play them.

Guitar Hero World Tour is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The Wii™ version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version is being developed by Budcat. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB.

From Kotaku.com

Guitar Hero: World Tour Priced; More Expensive than Rock Band

No official pricing info was included in the voluminous news release, but the Band Kit for Guitar Hero World Tour has been priced on Gamestop, which is (of course) also accepting pre-orders.

The PS3, Wii and 360 bundles will set you back $189.99. The PS2 bundle is 10 bones less, $179.99. Presumably these all include the game, guitar, drums and a mike. Gamestop just put the info up on its website, and Gaming Bits caught the scoop, noting that the bundle is $20 more than the Rock Band Special Edition bundle.

If you want to buy just the guitar and the game, you can get those for $99.99 and $59.99/$49.99 respectively. The release date is Oct. 27, 2008.

Wedbush Morgan analyst -- no, not that one -- Edward Woo uncovered some interesting news after sifting through an Activision SEC filing this week. According to the filing (via Gamespot), the company plans to launch Guitar Hero: Metallica in Fiscal 2009, which for Activision is anytime between now and March 31, 2009.

No other details are known other than its existence. Will it be guitar-only or multi-instrumental à la the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour? Regardless, we're guessing that long-awaited new single won't debut on Rock Band anymore.

from joystiq
That Xbox marketing survey just keeps on giving: a slide on Guitar Hero 4 presents a $180 pricetag for now-gen consoles, $170 for PS2 including all instruments. Just the software? They're asking $60 for 360 and PS3 versions, and $50 for their lower-def cousins. A handful of artists are also name-dropped - Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, Muse ... "and dozens more" - but what we're really interested in is this bit about an "all new wireless guitar controller with the first-ever touch-sensitive neck slide." We snuck a peek at the brandless guitar in the game's trailer and, though touch-sensiitive reads to us like "no buttons" - a claim that's as worrisome as it is intriguing - it certainly appears to have buttons in the pic above.

Of course, pricing information is always subject to change (read: let's wait to see what Rock Band 2 costs) and this survey doesn't include the game's "World Tour" subtitle so we're not entirely sold on the veracity of this information. Again, all eyes towards E3 where all will be revealed (we assume).

Top Gun Theme Free on Guitar Hero III

To celebrate Fourth of July, and perhaps move a few more Guitar Hero IIIs, Activision is giving away the Top Gun Anthem song via the Playstation Store and Xbox Live starting this Thursday.

Anthem is the guitar-heavy song from Top Gun, not to be confused with Kenny Loggins's Danger Zone. Unfortunately the free DLC won't include a heavy metal fro or aluminum parachute pants.

Man I had no idea this video existed, holy shit is it awesome.

Activision: ‘Guitar Hero: World Tour’ Is Compatible With ‘Rock Band’ Instruments

At Activision’s unofficial E3 press conference Tuesday evening, one of the developers of this fall’s “Guitar Hero: World Tour” made a quick comment to the crowd about the new “GH” game being compatible with non-”GH” instruments.

Later, I asked for clarification.

Two Activision representatives confirmed that the age of cross-game instrument incompatibility is nearing its end.

They explained that the Xbox 360 version of “Guitar Hero: World Tour” will indeed be compatible with the instruments for the first “Rock Band.” The “GH” developers have, for obvious reasons, not been able to test their new game with the upcoming “Rock Band 2.” Other third-party guitar and drum controllers are expected to work with “GH: World Tour” as well.

Activision isn’t ready to address whether the instrument compatibility applies to Wii, PS2 and PS3 versions of “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band.” But a rep told me that a recent auto-downloaded title update to the Xbox 360 version of “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” should make that game compatible with non-”GH” guitars, including the “Rock Band” ones.

there are just as many good songs on that list as are on the guitar hero list. Also some of the bands that are on both setlists have better songs on the rock band 2 setlist (Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys)

Also it looks like 5 or six songs are also on rock band 2 and there are a few that are in the first rock band

A list of songs has been floating around online today, purportedly comprising the Guitar Hero: World Tour setlist. With songs from bands like Tool, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy, it looks like a music-game lover's dream. Well, the folks at Activision and Red Octane are pinching us all awake with the announcement that it's a fake. We spoke with a representative who confirmed that, while some of those songs are indeed in the game (Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher," for one), the bulk of it is wishful thinking and pure speculation.
And we were so looking forward to the boss battle with bassist Sting, too. Drat.

So I played Guitar Hero 4 today and it felt exactly the same as rock band. The new drum set is pretty cool, feels alot better than rock bands. The pads have really good bounce back, but seriously its exactly the same as rock band. I didn't see any of the music studio stuff, but I'm not sure if I would really spend that much time with it anyway.

Has anyone else tried it out yet?

Everyones gonna laugh but I got dragged to the Paramore show last night, and they had a Guitar Hero 4 booth setup. The drum charts for Misery Business were cake on hard but that's not really hard to play. Ajusting to using the cymbals for the yellow and orange was pretty easy.

I didn't get to try Everlong, but They had about 10 songs you could pick from.

I'm pretty sure I saw my friend's wife in that video, she works for Neversoft and got started in the motion capture aspect of it, don't know if she's still in that area/department though. But she's done a ton of work with musicians on both guitar hero 3, and the new one. Apparently when Slash came in for III he was just chain smoking nonstop and ashing his cigarettes on the floor or anywhere he pleased in their office.

From 1up.com

The morphine drip of information on Guitar Hero World Tour just keeps on trickling out. On Friday Activision revealed that The Police will be contributing both a song and a digital representation of frontman Sting to the game. Joining them will be progressive metal group Tool, who are providing the band simulator with a whopping three tracks plus a custom venue. The full list of newly added music looks something like this:
"Demolition Man" by The Police
"Parabola" by Tool
"Schism" by Tool
"Vicarious" by Tool

Foreigner, Blind Melon, R.E.M. among Guitar Hero World Tour launch DLC

Perhaps driven mad with pleasure at the idea of how much money they'll be making with Guitar Hero World Tour, Activision will be heaping a dizzying amount new downloadable tracks on consumers in the game's first week of release ... as long as, you know, they pay for it.

First up is the Classic Rock Track Pack with "Rock and Roll Band" by Boston, "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner and "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield. That will be joined by Blind Melon's "No Rain" and (exclusive to 360 for two weeks) a trio of new R.E.M. tunes: "Horse to Water," "Man-Sized Wreath" and "Supernatural Superserious."

All of the packed tunes will be available separately and we still don't know how much any of this will cost us.

Bobby Bluewater

alright so i tried guitar hero 4 last night for about 30 minutes
it is to gh3 what rb2 is to rb, a decent upgrade

same art style as gh3. they added custom characters, for solo's they have semi-transparent "lines" that show you what direction the notes are heading which is weird as first. the timing window is about the same as gh3 if not a little more tighter. i personally like the timing window better than rock band 2 but charts like smashing pumpkins-today and bon jovi-living on a prayer are way more fun on rb2.

only got to try a handful of songs and they were pretty easy since i was only at the beginning of expert tour. the 311 tune is really fun to play, 'R.E.M - this goes out to the one i love' was decent but a lot of the songs feel like you have to play them as a band to get the full effect. 'linkin park-what ive done' was really boring. you sit out as guitar during the verses and play the same thing over and over on the chorus.

didnt get to try out the touchpad thinger on the guitar obviously, and didnt try out the music creation studio yet

im gonna play some more after work and post again

LAUR N

Played a few hours worth tonight. Vocals are fucking hard as hell. I was getting 88% on Nirvana songs I know like the back of my hand...on Medium, and not a whole lot better on Easy either (I should note there is a beginner before both of those). Dicked around with the music creating thing and am really not impressed at all. It requires the motion sensor in the necks in order to change keys and considering you only have 5 frets, it's really hard to put a riff down. One that happens to go into another key is really out of the picture. I've heard you can somehow work MIDI sequencers into this game, and that honestly seems like the only way people are really going to be able to create decent songs that can be taken seriously.
The one thing that bothered me most though is that even with the numerous effects/amp combos, you can only use one sound setting for each instrument, per song. There is no putting down multiple tracks per instrument. You can punch in and out to record parts, but changing sounds will change it for everything you record with that one instrument for the entire song. Maybe I missed something, but I felt I played with this long enough to become pretty fluent with the "software" and interface, yet saw no workaround for this.

flipp jackson
10-25-2008, 03:55 AM
i knew that the creation part would be halfassed

Bobby Bluewater
10-25-2008, 09:34 AM
i downloaded a few tracks off of it..they're pretty dinky
the best one was a zelda cover and it was just alright

another thing i noticed today is that the bass is way harder this time around. you have open notes you strum without holding down any buttons
they come across your screen like kick drum lines and you're constantly taking your hand off the frets to strum without and then back to holding down notes
kinda cool to make it more interesting but weird

the sustain notes are weird too..you hold down green for a long note, then strum again for red (while holding green) to sustain both notes then soemtimes strum again (while holding red+green) to sustain the yellow

occasionally they're hammer-ons which is easier but its weird at first

flipp jackson

i didn't like them as much, they are a little quieter, but are more bouncy and soft

the cymbals are also like 3 inches raised from the actual pads, i'd rather they all be on the same level or be a little more dramatic ala the rock band cymbal attachments/ion drumset

so ive been playing with my gh2 explorer this whole time, mainly because ive bonded with it and i wasnt a fan of the gh3 controller. anyways, i just played a few songs with the new guitar and holy feathery jesus, this is the best controller. the touchpad is amazing and being able to slap it, or use it to slide up and down in solos actually works quite well. the guitar is a bit heavier, longer and the whammy bar is about 2 inches longer. the star power button placed at the bridge is cool, not that i would use it, but i suppose for those who do, it will be much easier to reach than pressing the select button. oh and the strum bar has almost no "click" to it whatsoever.

man. this game.

allison wonderland

im not lovin it right off the bat. i only did two songs but they seemed really slow and hella boring on hard.

the new guitar is nice though. i hear almost 2 clicks though chintzy. i was getting mad at my sister because it sounded like she was tapping keys on my keyboard like an idiot but it was the sound of the strum going back into place or something. its a soft click when you strum but it coming back makes a weird click. ill probably get used to it, no biggie.

yeah its the same here
i just hate how the charts are so random, they always jump from one note to split chords to double notes to fuckin green-yellow-orange right in the middle of a riff or bridge

it throws you off because you dont expect it to be played like that, and they just do it to make the game more difficult as opposed to more fun
i can play on expert fine so its not like i just suck, i just dont feel like ever playing most of the songs more than a couple times cause it seems like a chore to play them

yeah, well it takes a lot to be impressed these days. but like saints row is to gta, this game gives you something else to do. its fun but not ground breaking.

it feels so cheap though, the graphics, menus, sliding table all looks shitty

yeah the fucking name input system is messed. yellow to select a letter? what?

but hey, gh has never been known for their amazing graphics. hell i would play these games if it was just the scrolling fret board against a black screen.

dumb question. Can the rock band instruments work with this?

yeah, but i havent figured out how to activate star power with the rb drums. you're suppose to hit the cymbals on the gh kit, yellow and orange, which is a pad and the kick in the rb kit, no luck though

Speaking on behalf of the PS3 all rock band instruments work in GHWT. The drum charts automatically adjust to the fact you are using RB drums. About time Sony laid the hammer down and make everyone play nice....
