Good friend of mine was in a simliar situation about 3 years ago bloo. Didn't do the elope thing, but he ended up marrying a girl who everyone had warned him about. A year and a half later he was divorced, and didn't realize until about 6 months into being married to her that he should have listened to what we were trying to tell him.

So with your friend maybe try and slap some since into him when he gets back and maybe see if he can get it anulled before he's too deep in.

Sometimes, people just have to learn things on their own. If this is indeed a bad situation, then it won't work out and your friend will learn a lesson. But there is always the possibility that the two of them were meant for each other. Of course, there may be things I don't know, but that's just my opinion, which is worth what it cost ya.
