so i bought a used terminator salvation at gamestop cuz i was bored and needed something to do and the trophies were really easy to get...

this game is such a fucking piece of shit. it had the most glitches ive ever seen. it froze my ps3 once and crashed on me once during 4 hours of gameplay. this will be the last time i get a shitty game just for a platinum.

the guy at gamestop laughed when i brought it up to and says "youre getting this game just for the trophies and youll be returning it tomorrow, arent you?" and i just laughed and said yes.

"The PS3 is 128 bit, but it is more 128 bit than the others. The number of bits isn't really a very good measure anymore. To be honest, it hasn't been a good measure since PS1 days. That said...

Most single pieces of data fit in 32 or 64 bits. The benefit of 128 bits is that you can operate on 4 pieces of 32-bit data at the same time, which is called SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data). This is only useful for data that needs the same operation on all 4 pieces, which is common in games for things such as 3D graphical transformations, physical simulation, collision detection, etc. 128-bits is the "sweet spot" of price and performance, so that is what everyone seems to have settled upon.

To get more power, people have instead now been moving to more processor cores. (PS3 has 8, Xbox 360 has 3, Wii has 1, PS2 had 1 + 2 special-purpose, Xbox had 1, etc).

For graphics, it is even trickier to explain. The biggest difference is that in the past, graphics chips were "fixed-function". Now, they are programmable. But people don't really talk about it in terms of bits; instead, they usually measure in terms of flops."

Good buys. All those games are awesome. Although I have platinumed Infamous by renting it twice, sometimes I still want to play it. Little Big Planet is incredibly short (although awesome), but the fact that you can create/download levels makes it worth the buy.

I'm not sure which is more insulting, the fact that they're full of shit about not getting the game back in stock or the fact that they sent out a mass email with the phrase "we do not anticipating."

Seriously, if I had gotten the game for $1 I would understand, but the "severe pricing error" amounted to like 25% off retail. There's no reason they shouldn't honor their stupidity.

I beat killzone once and although I enjoyed it, it didn't really draw me in like I was hoping. I don't have enough time to immerse my life into multiplayer anymore...that is untill MW:2 comes out. But it's perfect timing, my girl's finishing up her master's thesis before we take a trip to FL in August, so I'm just bringing my 27"LCD and ps3 to kill time over there and take appropriate breaks to ensure my sex life does not get ruined with my social.

fallout crashed for me a handful of times but thats all, ran fine otherwise. eden was good till i got the the levels where gravitys all fucked and shits reversed, lost interest REAL quick then.

guys, dark sector. rules hard. just grabbed it for 10 bones.

also, firmware 3.0 rumoured for later this year, everyones saying its gonna be a massive overhaul, but i doubt it.

maybe its just my ps3 (got a 1st gen) but a lot of times when i'm trying to stream shit off my computer, it'll crap out when i select a file and say the file format is not supported... but if i turn the ps3 off and turn it back on, it works

i originally thought it was cause i was doing the streaming wireless, but i bought a patch cable from monoprice and although its a bit faster loading now, it still does it

Yeah, for a $20 download you really can't beat Burnout Paradise if you like racing games at all. The afore-mentioned Fallout 3 is pretty much the best console RPG this generation and will devour your life and then shit you back out a withered husk of a person, if you like that sort of thing.

Just finished story mode for Fat Princess, it took a little while for me to figure things out and what my general strategy should be, but it's pretty fun once I got a hang of it... I like the Portal reference for the trophy once you finish it too...

gladiate is proving to be quite a whore. all the trophy names are pretty awesome. This is Caketown is one of my favs.

Yeah, they're definitely not a game i would try to get the trophies/achievements because they are so goddamn hard. But I've always loved wipeout since the very first one, so this 1080p awesomeness is a treat.

Yeah, but HD & Fury are a lot easier than previous ones. If you set skill to novice and turn pilot assist on, it's almost impossible to lose. But trophies are really pain in the ass.

the first one on nes was good. it was challenging. even though batman returns was a final fight rip off, throwing clowns against walls and seeing shit break will never get old.

It's pretty cool how you can jump from one guy to another but all you really do is mash the attack button. You can do a lot of other cool stuff though like hide around corners and pop out to attack guys patrolling. It's actually pretty entertaining.

the combat is fucking awesome, although like ravenous said, its kinda gay how its only one button. i hope thats just a demo only thing. but yeah everytime you take out the last dude it goes into a slow-mo sequence of you taking him down, looks rad. and switching between them while you go is cool. graphics are shit hot. so glad i pre-ordered the collectors edition now.

batman was pretty cool, although the demo was damn short... I'm not a fan of the veiny character design they look for, and some of the renders were pretty jagged but that may be because I only have a standard def tv, but it was pretty fun... the upside down stealth takeout was awesome, and they say as the game progresses you get more gadgets and fight moves, so that'll be good... considering the preorder...

Another round of beta for MAG has started -- on the off chance that anyone is in it (or has a code *hint* *hint*), don't hold out on the initial verdict.

For those who follow loosely, MAG is essentially a generic-looking shooter but with massive maps and 128 v 128 online battles, where you are assigned a squadron of 8 (so voice chat isn't completely ludicrous). Could be awesome, probably not.

Borderlands should play more like a standard FPS from what I've seen -- apparently the RPG elements are the Diablo-like loot system and skill-tree progression; there shouldn't be any VATS-like targeting system or anything. Plus four-player co-op!

VATS was fun for blowing heads off w/sniper rifles and such, but there were times in Fallout 3 where I wish you could play more FPS style without completely wiping out your ammo supply. Though it was pretty awesome not using a minigun for the whole game and then busting it out with 9000 5mm rounds.

I fucking love and still play hot shots: fore! on my ps2, it's pretty damn fun compared to other golf games I've played (I like tiger woods for the wii, but it could be more frustrating than fun)... didn't like the demo for the ps3 hit shots though, the regular game seemed pretty much the same, and pro mode was retarded hard...

while it was repetitious (which i dont mind if the core gameplay is fun), my gripe with it was there wasnt that much fighting and when you were going through the different parts of the world, i felt like the game kinda played itself. just hit the one correct button at the right time and watch him do everything else.

on another note, and this goes for PoP and others. im getting tired of all these fuckin collectibles in these games. its like these developers felt there game was still a little too empty so they put hundreds of meaningless little objects that you have to collect. ya i can see some reasons as it promotes exploration and extends gameplay, but it seems like so many games have it now. infamous 350 shards. prototype, 200 blue orbs 50 pink and web of intrigue guys. PoP 1001 light seeds. wolverines dog tags. the new batman game has a couple hundred riddler clues, etc...

i can see something small, like uncharteds 60 treasures or whatever. and with infamous at least you can use your radar and to a point they have a purpose by making you have more electric cores. the prototype and PoP ones really have no use to the game except for the purpose of trophies. PoP you need a certain number of light seeds, but the number is really low and would open up the new parts just by running your regular routes.

i know you dont have to collect them unless youre going for trophies, but it just seems to be getting outta hand. i wish more games took the route of dead space and made trophies more about gameplay than a chore of running around collecting sht. yes, they have logs, but they are there on your way and easy to find.

hahahaaha, to my defense, the last two trophies i needed (beat the game in under 12 hours and have elika save you less than 100 times) glitched and popped up for no reason at the end after watching the credits. if that didnt happen, i dont think i could make myself play through that game one more time just to get those last two trophies before the plat.
