I picked it up last night. I have to say it is a beautiful game, but the controls take a lot of getting used to. The default button layout sucks and you have to tweak the sensitivity in order to make it more playable. Nevertheless its a good game, just not the end all be all shooter as some people are making it out to be. Oh and the one gun and pistol limitation sucks balls.

I've been playing Killzone 2 on the second most hard setting and its been a long, long process. Fighting that ATAC on the roof took me about an hour to finally get it right.

Everything action in this game is so slow and deliberate, which makes it more challenging, but I don't find it very realistic. Its too hard to keep a bead on the enemies when they are running. Otherwise its solid.

Capcom has (accidentally?) revealed information about the game's upcoming DLC through newly uploaded Trophies. The DLC appears to introduce a number of new online modes: Slayers, Survivors, Team Slayers, Team Survivors and Versus. It's not exactly clear what these modes entail, but they appear to be competitive modes. "Team Survivors" gives us hope that Capcom is working on a co-operative mode inspired by Resident Evil Outbreak Left 4 Dead.

Dude, i've been trying to get ahold of your aussie ass for like 3 days now. I sent you a PM on PSN and here. Anyway, I just got done beating it for the 2nd time, now i'm on 4-2 on veteran. I could beat it today/tomorrow for sure, then we can do a run through co op if you want. I got the gatling gun, it's pretty gay. The longbow is pretty cool once you get used to it, but the 2 things that take the cake are the 500mag and the triple barrel shotgun. I got the mag maxed out with inf ammo, working on the shotty now. unlimited rocket launcher ammo makes professional a fucking breeze. im flying through it now, only have to finish it on prof and upgrade all the weapons and i have the platinum.

oh, and to unlock the unlimited rocket launcher fly through the game on amateur and finish it in under 5 hours. sounds hard but i actually did it in 3hrs 50mins. rocket pretty much one shot kills all the bosses. kinda sucks to see how quickly it can be finished.

I'm torn. Advent children just came out in JP on the 16th, and it comes with a playable demo of FFXIII (that is playable on any PS3). American release isn't until June and there will be no demo. Granted, there's really no point in owning both, but the JP version is about $70 shipped as where the US will be around half that.

the fan doesnt turn on, so maybe its fucked and its over heating. its a 40gig, about 16 months old. i know sooooooooooooooooo many people with ps3s, and of course mine has to be the one that fucks up. and its up to a 4 week wait for a repair. christ, there goes my life for a month. im playing a bluray on it now to see if that turns it off, cause its fine if its just sitting there doing nothing.

That's definitely the issue. The fan should ALWAYS be on, but during games that require alot of processing power; i.e. bioshock, re5, COD, you should actually blatantly hear the fan kick into high gear.

nah fuck sony, they wanna charge me $315 to fix a $700 console which isnt THAT far out of warranty. and apparently a lot of the time this is caused by thermal glue on the graphics processor coming unglued, and i'll be fucked if im giving them such a ridiculous amount of money to do that.

so anyway, theres a place in sydney that fixes them for $165, so ill be shipping it off there. they say 24-48 hours and its fixed. so again, fuck sony.

well that is australian dollars if that makes you feel any better - it's only like 100-150 american dollars if sony has to fix it out of warranty

plus the failure rates for PS3's are ridiculously lower than the 360's so you're either going for scenario A - where most likely around 25-30% of all 360's break and you'll most likely have them fix it for free OR B - somewhere around 5% if that of PS3's break

Yeah, I know what you mean. It really doesn't matter 9 times out of 10, and the eye can't see a difference unless you're playing on a 40"+ and sitting rather close to it, like a foot or so away. I have a 42" and when playing bioshock I'm right up on that TV, and it looks so fucking smooth.

it's modern technology related. PS3 has a good 2-3x more native 1080p games than the 360 has. The issue is that these are basically 2-3 year old computers at this point and for the most part the technology just isn't there to pump out full 1920x1080 and still be able to move at 30-60 frames per second. Unless you're talking an xbox live arcade/PSN game or something that is relatively simple (ie tennis games, basketball games etc. where there isn't that much that needs to be rendered as opposed to something like killzone) you can't keep the framerate up. So generally what happens is there is a compromise between having a good framerate and a high resolution.

I just started replaying Uncharted, I forgot how amazing this game was, one of the few games where I'm not constantly trying to skip the cut scenes. Sony is preparing to launch VidZone, a free music video streaming service that will exclusively hit the PlayStation 3 this Summer. It'll be integrated into the XMB menu and will allegedly feature thousands of videos that won't cost a single thin dime to watch.

The bigwigs in charge claim that VidZone is "backed by several Major record labels as well as thousands of Independent labels", and will be available in the music section of the PS3's XMB menu. Users will be able to compile and save their own video library, which will feature custom playlists that can be stopped, skipped and rewound at leisure. PSP owners will be able to create these playlists on their handhelds as well, which will then be streamed on the PS3.

VidZone CTO Michael Russo says that VidZone will be "one of the world's largest collection of music videos, allowing consumers to stream what they want, when they want it."

In a late-game move Sony announced today they've acquired the publishing rights to Ghostbusters: The Video Game in Europe all Australia. This will make the title a PlayStation exclusive for the near future in those territories with other platforms getting the release "later this year." As it stands now the PS2 and PS3 versions of the game are set for a June 19 release to coincide with the 25th anniversary release of the original movie on Blu-Ray. A PSP version will follow in the Fall.


This doesn't effect NA versions of the game as of now, but that could change.

It took me about 25 hours to go through both storylines, but I've put in a total of 30 hours searching for Blast Shards and my Platinum Trophy. All that, and this still isn't old.
