I got a 20gb all black launch ps3, still got no probs. I got the home beta a while back and it's still gay...if I wanted to play pool and shit I'd load up my wii, but it's a cool concept, I guess.

Man I aint got shit for impressive trophies, I mean a shitload of bronze/silver on LBP/mirrors edge/wipeout/PoP, but definately no platinum yet. I tried getting all the trophies on wipeout and just said fuckit it's way too time consuming.

don't try to act like the defective rates of the 360 is approaching any number near a comparable one to ps3 failures.

xbox 360 failure rate is estimated to be like 25-33% whereas i've never seen an estimate of ps3 failure rate be more than 1-2%


if any other product had a quarter of the units stop working people would stop buying it, no matter if it was replaced for free or not. If my 360 goes out on me again now that it's out of warranty theres no way in hell that i'm buying another one

i'm sure it'll be a work in progress throughout the rest of the ps3's life. I'd imagine that this generation is all leading up to playstation 4 where they have a better version of home/online presence and have learned from their mistakes.

I got a BDRE drive for $250 over 6 months ago, and it came with 2 sony brand BDRE discs that I have reused dozens of times. Only shit that's expensive are the BDR discs for single time uses, but that will fall soon considering Bluray is now the only HD disc in current production.

yeah, NOW they aren't quite as expensive. I'm talking about at launch of the ps3 when it was $600 dollars and regular stand alone blu-ray players were about $1000. If playstation 3 launched at $400 it would be in a LOT better shape than it would be today

so by the time another playstation will come out (which i'd assume will be 2011-2012 ish) not only will blu-ray drives be super cheap, but the cell chip will be super cheap as well. Supposedly they designed the cell to be used in tandem with more cell chips so add two more cell's to a playstation 3 and bam you have a 3x more powerful playstation. An example of this theory is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Running At 240 FPS , 3840x2160 Resolution by using 4 regular playstation 3's (http://kotaku.com/5093592/gran-turismo-5-prologue-running-at-240-fps--3840x2160-resolution)

Presently, I'm accustomed to WipeoutHD, prince of persia, LBP, and mirror's edge, as those are the only games I've tried to get trophies on, but if uncharted's a bit easier, we'll see.

who else is anxiously awaiting God of War 3, I'm pretty sure it'll be close between Drakes 2 and GoW3 for game of the year 09. The past 2 have been so epic and well done as far as pushing the PS2 to its limits so my expectations are tremendously high for the PS3 release.

nope it's like gears of war in the jungle but instead of aliens you're shooting various minority pirates. throw in a LITTLE bit of exploration and a LITTLE bit of easy puzzle solving and that's uncharted

plus it has, like, the best console graphics ever. the animations are amazing and the voice acting/facial animations are some of the best out there that at this point, and was only beaten by metal gear or MAYBE heavenly sword in my opinion

According to Meant to be Seen, "the world's first and only stereoscopic 3D Certification and Advocacy group," Sony "fully intends" on supporting 3D stereoscope technology next year. What does mean? It means the PS3 will be able to render an image which will appear to be 3D using special glasses. This kind of technology is most commonly found in movie theaters that present 3D movies.

3D stereoscopic technology will be implemented in both movies and games, according to MtbS. A simple firmware update is all that's needed to make this incredible tech possible on the PS3. In fact, the firmware update "may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions." Intriguing.

Less likely. This is an outside development studio. They can convince Sony to throw it into a firmware update, but they will still have to go around and convince studios to actually make games that support it.

I opted for the levels only, considering that the levels are $7, and 4 costumes are $7. I'd pay money for levels but not for costumes. Plus, I like customizing my sackboys alot more than downoading pre-fabbed ones, no matter how much nostalgia they have behind them.

I just sent fallout 3 back, I tried for 15 hours to get into it, but I spent more time walking/saving than I did enjoying the game. Then when i'd start to enjoy it, i'd do something wrong and people would get pissed, and i'd get pissed and get addicted to jet and kill everyone with a lead pipe. Man you have no idea how much I'd hyped up this game up in my head as to how awesome and fun it would be. I absolutely loved the demo, but it was the complete opposite once I actually got my hands on the full version. I think maybe with more time to work on the combat system it would have been more enjoyable, but the controls were just way too clunky with regards to fending off guards. I forced myself to finish it, but I don't think I'd ever play it again. Sorry for dishing out a plate of harshbrowns on it, but that is one of the most unenjoyable gaming experiences of my life. I still do enjoy the demo though.

The combat was crap, I'll agree.

I got lost in the Time Trials though, and though it sounds like the thought of even feeding that disc to your PS3/360 turns your stomach, you may want to give that a shot. There's no combat. I can't even begin to estimate how many times I tried to make that bugged jump to get three stars on "The Office." I found it really addicting and the ability to download ghost data and run along side it is phenomonal.

it's outrageously easy. back up your files using the backup utility, open the guy up, take the hard drive out, screw the new hard drive onto the harness thing, slide it back in, turn it on and use the backup utility to restore all your junk

just be careful with the screws, they are really really tiny and supposedly strip very easily. I actually went to sears and bought a tiny screw driver so it was no issue at all, but if you took a normal driver to it you may have issues

now i haven't played it yet so I can't judge it on my own, but to my understanding this was a deliberate choice to make it control like this. The "sluggishness" is supposedly meant to convey a real sense of weight in both the players actions and the weight of holding a gun. So you can't jump over and over and over like in call of duty or be some ridiculous super soldier who can turn on a dime and whatnot.

i'm sure it's something you'll get used to. I'm looking forward to trying it out, but then again i didn't really think that the last one was quite as bad as everyone made it out to be, it was much more limited by the platform that it was released on than anything.

Played through the demo, graphics are pretty impressive, AI seems to be pretty good, but its fairly short so hard to get a good gauge on it. Reviews so far have said that the single player is going to be pretty short, so this may be a rental but it will probably be a pretty amazing once through.

Yeah only way to get it is to setup a European PSN account, which takes like 3 minutes to do. Just set your region to UK and then enter a hotel address from somewhere in London and you are good to go.

to be honest, EA of all people made a better horror game controls with dead space. Those controls are perfect for this sort of a game and if they just copped it completely the resident evil demo would have been sooooo much more fun

making something difficult because of a cumbersome control scheme is creating bullshit challenge that is a sign of a lazy developer who 1. doesn't want to move towards the future 2. is to lazy to make better enemy AI rather than just throw a whole bunch of shit on screen and have a control scheme that says "you deal with it"
