you arent going to lose any trophies since they are backed up on a separate servers that has nothing to do with any of this. if you were playing and they didnt pop up, thats another thing, but if you 1 trophy left before the plat, all your trophies arent going to magically disappear.

So Sunday I was installing the RE5 add-on when the whole bug happened. Yesterday when the problem got fixed, I resynced with the server and it deleted all my trophies for RE5 since I was on that game. I was pretty pissed.

2 hours later I signed in and all my trophies were back - yay! It's funny - while this bug was going on - how many people started making gif's/videos/etc... Shit loads of 360 fanboys were cracking their asses up going "OHHHH YOU CAN'T PLAY YOUR PS3 OHHHHH!!!" Yeah too bad it lasted for only A DAY mah facka. All the haters were praying that it would take a long time. I'm only 1 trophy away (beating RE5 on professional) from getting the platinum, so I'm glad I don't have to do all that shit over again. All my friends in real life suck too bad to beat the jill fight and the big manjini fight, so I'd have to do that with someone online here. Who's feeling up to it!?

i will admit that i love watching the fanboys act up when something like this happens to the opposing system. i have a feeling that this might be one of the last things 360 fanboys have to gloat about though. game and performance wise, the 360 is really starting to level out, while developers are finally getting the hang of the ps3 and we as gamers are reaping the benefits. i don't know if the ps3 is going to outsell the 360 by the end of their life cycles (neither one will catch the wii at this point) but it will go down as the superior console imo.

well that's also in North America, which is really the only 360 stronghold in the world. PS3 continually outsells the 360 in Europe (which as a whole is just about as big of a gamer base as america) and Japan (no doy)

360 will probably overall outsell PS3 in North America, but PS3 will overtake it with worldwide sales probably at some point this year or next. However, the fact that Microsoft made so much progress in a generation is a pretty impressive feat in itself even though Sony basically shot themselves in the foot with the worst console launch EVER

Yeah it's fucked up how that worked. What's really funny is I never owned a PS2, I loved my original xbox (still have it hooked up! dvd drive doesn't work but still streams games/vidz), fucking LOVED it. But when the whole 360/ps3 thing came about I knew exactly which system I would be getting.

i didn't realize it was that close either. sony is lucky that xbox hasn't caught on in japan or else they'd probably be getting dominated. does anyone know an approximate number on how many replacement 360's were bought? microsoft has been pretty good about their service on them (as they should) i am also really impressed with how far microsoft has come with only two consoles under their belt. i was initially hesitant about the original xbox and it definitely exceeded my expectations way back when.

i've always been lucky enough to have all the consoles that are available but at this point i'd choose a ps3 if i could only have one. i'm a little worried though about the next generation of consoles from all three companies. what more can be done? i guess the new motion controls will tell us a little more, whenever they come out.

i really, really hope nintendo does a little bit more to please it's more hardcore gamer crowd since we're the ones who have been supporting them since the nes. i applaud nintendo for completely dominating the market but catering to 50 year old housewives is really pissing me off. they aren't the people who spent weeks upon weeks trying to beat super mario bros: the lost levels but they're the ones nintendo seems to care about now. i almost wouldn't care if nintendo stuck to handhelds and released their franchises on ps4 and we all can see what would have been had nintendo hooked up with sony back in the day. the wii has some really good games but they're so few and far between. i haven't turned that thing on in months (gf plays it) and i probably won't touch it until galaxy 2.

gamecube was a really underrated system. it was powerful, had solid games (some amazing ones) and my favorite controller ever (wavebird)

of course nintendo had to be stubborn with those mini discs and yeah they cut down piracy and load times but it was a mistake. third party support was a shortcoming as well and it still is. i've always wondered what would be going on right now had nintendo either gone through with the sony partnership back with the snes or went disc based on their own with the 64.

god fucking damnit, i just tried to load up jayden's fish tank level in heavy rain from a saved game. his face appears during the loading but then nothing. tried to reboot a few times still nothing, tried to load the last few missions, nothing. this is fucked. i love this game and all but i am not going to start it all over again. what the fuck

I had something similar happen to me with borderlands, I sat on my remote which turned off my ps3 and tv as it was saving, and I lost my save so I had to start over... it's fucking insane that some games only allow one save per player, I do redundant saves whenever possible to avoid losing my game...

I now have a thumb drive sitting next to the ps3 and usually back up the saves before I even start a game now...

oh yeah, the General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands is pretty great once you get past the difficult start, you level up REALLY fast, I'm probably half way through I think and at level 59, the game is back to a "normal" difficulty now (apparently playthrough 1 is super easy and caps enemies around level 42 or so). good loot drops with powerful guns/lots of money (more than it can display, no matter how much I die or spend the cash level never drops below 10mil). there's still a lot of challenge though, drifters are hard as hell with the standard cars, nearly impossible on foot and close range, and huge swarms of midgets will kick your ass in tiny town...

so nice surprises and a lot of little side jokes found throughout the background, I'm curious to see if I have any chance going against crawmax on my own once he's unlocked, he's level 64, you get capped at 61. at this point I'd say it is worth picking up...

Man I've been playing alot of marvel vs capcom and old street fighter, since they were 50% off I grabbed'em. I'm actually surprisingly good with Zangief now that I have analog sticks and I'm older and know how to buffer throws thanks to virtua fighter.

Anyway, with upgrading to a slim you lose all backwards compatibility with PS1/PS2 games, you lose the memory card reader, and you lose Linux support. On the plus side it's smaller, eats up less power, and has a bigger hard drive.

It's not even worth it. Although you do get $150 for $10, what's the point since you can only have 5 accounts on a ps3? It's not like you're getting a CARD, you're getting an account you must add to your ps3. I would much rather have friends that continuously throw down on games all linked to a ps3. Two of my friends have pspgo's and ps3's, so I only have room for 2 more. If you delete those profiles you can't play the games anymore.

But then again I guess this is good for people who don't have friends. They could create 4 more users on their ps3. $40 for $600 worth of games. Hmmmmmm

my game froze on the first time through the transistor trial. It froze before it saved so I got the coward trophy as well as the trophy for completing it.

Sony has patented and idea that is so obvious you wonder why no one else has thought of it. The basic premise is rather than download a demo of a game, you download the complete game. As you play the game features get removed, slowly crippling the game back to demo status.

Taking the recent Sonic & Sega racing game an as an example, you would download and play the game with access to all tracks and characters, but as you continued to race, tracks would be locked off, multiplayer versions would vanish and characters would wave adios until you were left with one track and one character. Pay for the unlock key and your demo becomes the full game again.

Actually, they are already going back on that statement. Section 8, a game that was originally a 360 and PC title is finally coming to the PS3 but it will be download only. There is no way Sony would say no to something that would make Xbox Live look superior to the PSN. They just wanted to say they wouldn't do full game downloads so they could flaunt Blu-Ray storage capacity again.

so a friend of mine is looking to buy a new console cause his 360 got banned. the main reason for him getting a new console is buying songs for rock band/guitar hero online, as he plays these games on the ION drum kit.
i really didn't pay any attention to the PS3 the last couple of years since i'm a 360 user myself, so i'm not really familiar with the console features.
does the PSN have a store where you can buy DLC's for your games like in the 360? and if so, is the rock band/guitar hero catalog similar to the one on xbl?

im at the part where you play as the little kids twin brother. i dunno. some parts are suspenseful such as the driving on the wrong side of the road part or cutting off your finger. im just not that into the story and im bored playing it since there really isnt much action going on. id probably enjoy the movie of it though if they made it. keep in mind, ive never played the other two games before this one so i didnt go in with any expectations. i commend the devs for doing something completely different and i can see how people could get excited for this type of game, but its not for me. ill still beat it, but im not going to replay it a whole bunch to do the perfect crime or see all the endings.

it was fun, lots of puzzle solving and shit...reminded me of RE1. You only really get to fight one kind of enemy, and theyre a bit of a bitch to deal with. I hear Desperate Measures has a lot more fighting.

Things are so bad that it has been suggested that Jeronimo Barrera of Rockstar has been asked by Take Two Interactive to try and calm the developer’s fears that their game may suffer because of this.

L.A Noire was thought to have previously been a PS3 exclusive game, so it would make sense that if the PS3 is the main platform that the developers would have to try and compress the game down enough to be able to fit it onto a DVD, since the Blu-Ray disc has a much larger capacity.

it doesn't matter if you have internet or not, the fact is no ISP would be ok with letting everyone regularly download 40+GB games, the infrastructure can't handle it in north america if every gamer suddenly jumped on it along side streaming HD movies, music, and regular internet use... the bigger the disc size, the bigger the games are going to get, in the 100s of GBs, so are you really going to download 100GB instead of buying a disc, especially the way people here go through games? manufacturers aren't going to be putting multiple TB drives in consoles any time soon.

The fact of the matter is, a $59.99 game is still going to cost that even if it is a direct download, so why would you not want to have a physical disc that doesn't take up any drive storage space? yeah I'm disappointed so far - very linear and repetitive. I'm on the crystal lake where you finally get the ability to level up/gain new abilities so thats a plus, but so far the best part about the game are the visuals/graphics.

Yea, I've played through almost all the american ones. I started with 1 on my nes when I was a kid. I quit 8 halfway through and never touched 9. I even played 11 online for months and months. I thought 12 was pretty damn good. My only complaint about it, which is really minor, is you couldn't see the armor on your character like in 11.

There is alot of stuff I really like about this new one, but stuff I really dislike so far too. I'm only on the crystal lake right now....so I have to give it time still. It's amazing just looking around and watching stuff.

I really wound up liking how 12 played. I haven't played more than two and a half hours of this one, but I don't like how I haven't leveled up once (I know its a different type of exp system).

And how hard is it to get good voice actors for these games? Seriously.

american ports always get fucked in the voice actor department.. or the translations are horrendous.

Just played FF for a couple of hours. It's off to a pretty awful start. The characters and voice acting are all really obnoxious across the board (Vanille in particular) which is pretty par for the course for these games but it's still disappointing. The plot seems even more incomprehensible than usual and the autocombat shit sucks. I'll keep playing but I haven't been this disinterested in an FF game since 8.

I think the whole plotline is pretty confusing so far even with the extra info in the datalogs (although thats par for the course with a majority of the FF series, I know). I don't know, maybe its me - but so far there seem to be discrepancies between the story told by the cutscenes and the one told in the datalogs.. For example - the datalogs keep talking about how furious Hope is with Snow and how he's seething with anger, etc. but I don't get that sense at all just from watching the cutscenes and seeing them interact.

I'm about 8-10 hours in so far just for reference.

I like how Tycho from Penny Arcade put it:

At this point I wouldn't be bothering with the game at all if I wasn't sentimentally attached to the brand. It's pretty insultingly bad so far, especially for a series that takes so painfully long to iterate.

I'm about 20 hours in now. I've really been enjoying it too. I think it's good that it doesn't open up too early. If I had to try to level up my weapons while learning all the other shit I'd probably be spending way too much time in the save shops, and going through the fucking guide...instead of enjoying the game. I didn't quite understand the story completely at first either, but as the game has gone on I've got it.

I really like the battle system now. It's pretty fucking easy at first, but as you get farther in the game there's a lot more to it.

The only voice that grates on me is Vanille. And now and then she has an
Australian accent for a few words, then it goes away. I'm alright with everyone else.

Whenever I walk up to random strangers though, I always expect a text balloon to pop up instead of hearing them talk.

Vanille is definitely the worst offender, but Lightning definitely has some of the flattest deliveries I've ever heard in a game.

Typing that sentence has granted me increased awareness of how terrible these name choices are, too. This has been going on since FFX. Graphical enhancements = downward spiralling of character names?
