Tell me why I shouldn't buy this car. Other than the fact that it doesn't look that "cool". I have a 45 mile trip to work one way and I do that 3-4 days a week. I drive an '05 Taurus SE and it costs me $10.00 atleast to drive to work. I saw one in person at the gas station near my apartment today(not buying gas) up close and it looks pretty slick.

as long as you only get one bag of groceries per shopping trip you'll be good.
also you'll probably die in an accident

it looks like you could get similar gas mileage from a prius or a civic hybrid for around the same cost and not look ridiculous on the highway/be in a little deathbox

simplesimon fucking nailed it. smartusa was TRYING to go for 12k tops. but because of demand and other shit, the car costs MORE than a brand new civic.

What about a yaris? One of my coworkers was raving about hers the other day. There's no way I would seriously buy that smart car, especially for $16,000. Because I could get more car for that amount of green. Besides, I am pretty sure this was the guy driving it, or atleast his twin brother.

honda civic hybrid - 40 city/45 highway (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008car1tablef.jsp?id=24829)
toyota camry hybrid - 33 city/34 highway (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008car1tablef.jsp?id=24404)

i don't know about the yaris since i've never really looked at one but you should be able to get any of these for around the price of that smart car either used or new

yeah if you can stomach paying more up front for feul diesel cars get great gas mileage and are probably technically better for the environment being that diesel is a byproduct of regular fuel

my brother drove nothing but diesel pickups through high school, he'd pass out in them in front of my parent's house, they loved waking him up at 5am in a running pickup every weekend
